Hellooo! As I was trawling Pinterest for some quick inspiration for my Spotlight Post, I was taken by some images of bullet journals - not the actual list pages, but the way that some pages had colourful framed blocks of information, so I thought I'd try and replicate the idea in a card.
I started by gathering suitable frames for the text blocks from Art Expressions. The postage stamp frame top-right is from Gone Postal, the grungy frames centre-left and bottom-right are from Blossom Overture, and the remaining three are from Deepti's Frames and Flowers. I arranged them in place on my MISTI. Fortunately some of the frames are hollow so the magnets fitted inside.
Once the frames were stamped, I decided which text blocks would go into which frames. I started with the top-left, using Versafine Onyx Black and then Tombow pens for the coloured part. It was a bit problematic, as you can see, so I gave up on that idea and stamped all the rest of the text in black.
Then I started adding colour to each framed element.
Here's a close-up of each one. I went over the 'Colour' with Tombow pens.
Leaving a little white space infers shine or reflection on tubular/cylindicral items.
I added a pale blue border inside this frame to help create depth.
I just coloured in the gaps on this one rather than swiping most of the words.
The bright colours help the words to stand out.
Another way of highlighting is to trace a word with marker pen. I also did this on the top-left framed element.
I added some pen dots between some of the frames. You can see how it adds a little more interest to the card compared to the pre-dots version (resting on all the Tombow pens).
Here's another look at the finished card. Sometimes all you need is to fill the card with images ;)
