{Spotlight Project} Maria Creates A Bloomful Rainbow

Hello there STAMP friends!  Welcome to my first Spotlight of February. I'm playing with the Stamp Club stamp, Bloomful, this month. It's such a fun set and definitely puts me in a good mood. I had this idea in my head and just had to have a go at rainbow-ing it.

STEP 1
Gathered my supplies - MISTI, Versafine black ink, Bloomful stamp set, Neenah CS and my Prismacolors colored pencils.

STEP 2
Lined up the large stamp along the bottom of the panel and stamped it once.

STEP 3
Opened my pencils and started coloring. I must admit I thought I'd color quickly, in strips like rainbows are. But then I noticed that the design of the doodle kind of lends itself to fussy coloring, mimicking a rainbow's stripes. I wanted to have green at the bottom which meant I started with yellow on top. Put down one layer of color. (Total coloring time: 20 minutes)

STEP 4
See how I actually colored in the shapes, just mimicking a rainbow.

STEP 5
Here it is again after a second layer of color. See the difference in the magenta area where the pencil is? To the left is two layers; to the right is only one.

I must admit I love how the colors turned out. I love that spot of yellow green at the bottom. I get an "earth" vibe from the finished result too. Do you see it ? Wish I could say I planned that ;)

STEP 6
I put the panel back in the MISTI and stamped the image again. Of course, I'd left the stamp in place ;) Love how the MISTI makes it possible to get a nice, crisp black outline after you've colored.

Here's the final card again. I added another image up at the top and a beautiful sentiment. Then I adhered the panel to a top-folding card.
