{Spotlight Project} Monika Re-visits Brushos

Hello STAMPlorations Friends! It's Monika back with another Spotlight feature. Today I'm re-visiting Brushos. They are still rather popular and, as I found out, work brilliantly when used on inkjet photo paper/card to make stunning backgrounds.

Here is today's card:

The idea was to use roughly the same colours for the background as for my focal image as I wanted to create an effect where the two were a sort of merging, A sort of an order and chaos effect.

I started with sprinkling yellow, turquoise, orange and scarlet on a piece of photo paper/card and spritzed with water

I rather like how the colours didn't seem to run into each other too much despite my photo paper being quite wet. There seemed to be lots of glorious texture.

After air-drying for a little while, I left my background overnight weighed down with a couple of acrylic blocks to help straighten it out.

Once dry the colours remained vibrant, much to my relief. I always felt that when used on card, mixed media card or watercolour paper they lost some of their sparkle.

I picked up an already stamped image from my desk, coloured it with markers and fuzzy cut around it.

The background had so much detail that I felt it would be a shame to cut it smaller hence I cut a piece of black card to fit as my base card, added the flowers, a die-cut sentiment and finished off with a doodled border.

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used in today's card:
