{Spotlight Project} Maria Takes A CAS Design Up A Notch

Hello there STAMP friends! Back with another tutorial for you. Today I'm sharing an idea for those of you who like to make super CAS cards. Something to think about if you want to take it up a notch ;)

STEP 1
Gather supplies - Cardbase, stamp set with matching dies (although you could use a standard circle or square die too), coloring medium. I used my MISTI too.

STEP 2

You know the design rules... stamp your image in the lower right sweet spot. I stamped with Memento since I was coloring with alcohol markers. I didn't worry about perfect coverage but left the stamp in the positioner so that after coloring I could stamp the outline again.

STEP 3
Color your image.

STEP 4

TIP: When done coloring, place your card back into the MISTI and stamp the image again. This ensures a nice, crisp black outline image. Stamp the sentiment. Consider being finished. Maybe adding a strip of PP along the bottom... or dry embossing the front... or

STEP 5

... die cut the image from the front and adhere it to the inside! This also hides the color that seeps through to the inside of your one layer card when you color with alcohol inks.

Put adhesive on the back of the die cut then place it through the die cut hole to place it perfectly onto the inside of the card.

Here's a close-up. Fun, eh?

I rounded the corners too in a nod to the curves of the plant.

I hope if you like to make CAS cards you might try this. There are many stamp/die possibilities at STAMPlorations. Should you find yourself placing an order anytime soon, I'd love it if you used my STAMPGIRLMARIA code for an additional 20% off your order.

  1. Love this idea! A good way to hide the coloring that seeps through to the back of the cardstock, and it adds a bit of interest to the card as well.

  2. Great idea, Maria! I don't usually think of putting an image inside my card, but this is definitely a fun way to do so.
