{Spotlight Project} Maria Spotlights Negative Space

Welcome to my first Spotlight post of 2018 STAMPlorations friends! Do you like trends? I love to check out what's predicted to trend when each new year rolls around. I've been creating my inspiration projects for this month using an "Urban Tribe" trend - you can check it out here. I decided to focus on another trend that caught my eye for my spotlight projects this month. It's something I've always loved in design - "Negative Space"! Here's a look at my card.

STEP 1
Gathered my supplies - stamp sets and die,  black ink, kraft cardstock and an embossing folder. The second photo shows my inspiration - the neutrals basically.

STEP 2

Arranged and stamped the images on the cardbase.

STEP 3

Stamped more images on the left side of my cardbase. TIP: Turn your card (or MISTI as I did here) to accommodate stamps extending off the card edge but still make use of the corner for aligning.

STEP 4
Trim another piece of kraft CS and die cut a butterfly from it. We want to accentuate the negative space, remember?!? To accentuate even more, dry emboss the panel.

STEP 5

Heat emboss sentiment onto black CS and trim strip.

STEP 6
Arrange items, secure with temporary adhesive and then stitch.

In addition to the negative die cut, I'm really liking the neutrals with that little pop of gold embossing!
Remember if you try out any of the techniques, like negative die cutting, from our Spotlight posts hook up your project at our Spotlight Project Showcase
