{Stencil Sunday} Awesome Stenciled Backgrounds by MariLynn

Happy Sunday, STAMPlorations friends! We are back with a new helping of Stencil Sunday goodness! You'll get to see projects that show off how to creatively use ARTplorations stencils. And each month, we'll pick one winner of a $15 gift code -- the winner will be drawn from all comments left on the Stencil Sunday posts for the month, as well as from the designers' blogs.

STAMPgirl MariLynn used our stencils to create backgrounds for her projects today.

I did a mixed media tutorial last Friday. Check it out to see how I layered stencils to make the prints I used to make these Artist Trading Coins.

I used the following ARTplorations Stencils: Fairy Tale ForestEthnic Organic OnePeacock FeathersBubble Dance

I cut my prints into circles the size for Artist Trading Coins which is 2.5 inches in diameter. Do you see what I see?

I saw little fish. I used a gel pen to start making eyes on the fish.

I added black to the eyes.

I used the white gel pen to add some highlights to the bubbles, I also went over some of the orange lines to show movement of the fish. I took a red and and yellow colored pencil and drew in scales on the fish.

I got some new toys this week. I got a Nuvo aqua shimmer brush. I brushed over the bubbles. Very sparkly but I wanted a little bit more.

I went over the bubbles with Nuvo crystal glaze.

Cool thing about putting the glaze over the shimmer is the bubbles are so sparkly and have dimension. Hard part is waiting for the drops to dry.

I still wanted more sparkle, so I added orange glitter to the tops of the fish.

It was hard to capture the gloss and shimmer of the bubbles and the sparkle of the glitter.

For the backs of the coins I stamped "Sparkle" and "Shine" from the Art Marks stamp set.

Another project I have to share with you used the same stencils (minus Bubble Dance) just different colors for the layering. I added the Nuvo crystal glaze to make dimensional dots where the Fairy Tale Forest stencil showed through the layers. I also used the Nuvo aqua shimmer where the Peacock Feathers stencil also showed.

I left the sentiment off and will put it on the inside. I wanted to leave all of this layered print showing.

Last project I want to share shows another layered background with same stencils as with the fish Artist Trading Coins. I added 2 little birds to the card from the Trendy Birds set.

I stamped the birds on scrap piece of gel printed cardstock. I fussy cut them out. I put them on pop out mechanisms and I added two colors of glitter, lavender and teal.

Great projects, aren't they? For a chance to win a $15 gift code to the STAMPlorations store, leave a comment here by December 8. We'll announce the winner in the November winners post on December 10.
