{Stencil Sunday} Color Play with Sue

Happy Sunday, STAMPlorations friends! It's time once again for some stencil inspiration. You'll get to see projects that show off how to creatively use ARTplorations stencils. And each month, we'll pick one winner of a $15 gift code -- the winner will be drawn from all comments left on the Stencil Sunday posts for the month, as well as from the designers' blogs.

STAMPgirl Sue shares two delightful and colorful CAS cards:

Here's Sue with her projects:

For this card, I used the stencil in the traditional way, I adhered the stencil to a white A2 card panel with post-it tape to prevent the stencil from shifting. I decided to offset the bloomdala towards the lower, left corner. I applied colours with distress inks (mustard seed, carved pumpkin, candied apple, wilted violet, salty ocean, mowed lawn) with an ink blending tool. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner using Hero Arts Soft Granite ink.

Supplies used: Perched BirdTrendy Birds 2

I die cut the perched bird from a 4"x6" repositionable label. I placed the negative on an A2 white card base. I lightly added colour with distress inks (carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, salty ocean) with an oval makeup brush. I then temporarily adhered the stencil over the bird and added more colour with a heavier hand using the same distress inks and an ink blending tool through the stencil. I feel it adds more interest and dimension to the bird.

Lovely makes, wouldn't you say? For a chance to win a $15 gift code to the STAMPlorations store, leave a comment here and on Sue's blog by February 8. We'll announce the winner in the January winners post on February 10.

That's it for Stencil Sunday this month. Check back again next month for even more stencil inspiration from Sue and Shirley.
