{Stencil Sunday} Lovely CAS Stenciled Cards by Sue

Happy Sunday, STAMPlorations friends! We have another helping of Stencil Sunday goodness! On the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of the month, the STAMPgirls are sharing their projects that show off how to creatively use ARTplorations stencils. And each month, we'll pick one winner of a $15 gift code -- the winner will be drawn from all comments left on the Stencil Sunday posts for the month, as well as from the designers' blogs.

STAMPgirl Sue is back with a couple of lovely CAS stenciled cards.

Here's Sue with her projects:

Before starting this card, I googled what these flowers look like in the wild. I found some that are reddish towards the top and the rest, purple. I tried to replicate this using distress inks (fired brick and seedless preserves for the flowers and peeled paint for the leaves and stems), applied with ink daubers through the Lupinus stencil. I added the sentiment from the New Day clear stickers pack. It's so easy to add these sentiments - no ink and stamping required! I trimmed the panel down a bit to add a green mat to complete the card.

For this card, I stamped a scripty background with a tone-on-tone look on some light kraft cardstock for some added interest. This time, I decided to use my Faber-Castell polychromos colored pencils with the Abstract Oats stencil. Be sure that your pencils are sharp as it can be a bit challenging to get into all the nooks and crannies with dull pencils. I love how vivid the colors of these pencils are. I stamped the sentiment from Noteworthy 2 onto a scrap of yellow cardstock and added a strip of light kraft for contrast.

Sue certainly knows how to make stencils shine in a CAS design. For a chance to win a $15 gift code to the STAMPlorations store, leave a comment here and on Sue's blog by August 5. We'll announce the winner in the July winners post on August 10.

Did you enjoy today's featured post? Stencil Sunday will be back on August 11 with projects from STAMPgirl MariLynn so be sure to check back here then :o)

  2. Lovely stencil work. I need to use mine more. I like that you googled the flower to see the colors. Using the pencils on the 2nd card looks great. The colors remind me of fall. Thanks for the tip about keeping the pencils sharp. [Bunny]
