{Spotlight Project} Monika Adds Texture With Baby Wipes

Hello Crafty Friends! Have you ever tried stamping with baby wipes? They are great for adding texture using watercolour or brusho crystals. I decided to work with brushos for today's cards.

Let me take you through my process on how they came together.

First I sprinkled some Emerald and Turquoise brushos on a tile and spritzed with water.

I then folded a wet baby wipe as shown with the textured side on the outside, picked up some colour and started 'stamping'. Varying the pressure gave different effects, very light touch allowed the dotty texture to show through whereas slightly heavier touch made it a bit more blotchy.

To help my cards to flatten out while they were drying, I weighed them down with a few large acrylic blocks.

I then used the most textured background and stamped one of the Bloom Doodles blooms in Aurore and Menthe Izink ink using my fingers instead of an acrylic block. I felt this was adding to the textured feel of my background.

To finish my card, I added a die-cut sentiment and some tiny flowers as embellishment.

For my next card I wanted to create a little background scene, but things didn't go quite to plan when I picked up the wrong colour to stamp the mountains, Reglisse instead of Nuit. More about this a little later.

Wanting to stay with the watercolour feel, I decided to add a bit of stamping using the scribbly stamp from Art Marks 2 in Menthe, Emeraude and Nuit. The trees and mountains were adding some scenic elements to my background.

The car from Wanderlust and the Airstream from Gone Camping were combined to give me my caravan and tow car. I coloured them to match our real life car and caravan.

As mentioned earlier, things didn't go quite to plan and my mountains were a lot darker than they were intended to be. I was looking for a way make them appear less dominant and decided to use a white frame cut from the two smaller rectangles from the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

I added the frame, stamped my sentiment from Layered Watermelon in Nuit, and finished off with my caravan and tow car.

Using up the last base base card, I stamped the Chance To Change Typographia sentiment on the rectangle I was left with when cutting the frame and added a splash of colour using the diamonds from the Wanderlust Hipster Icons.
