Mixed Media Magic: Inky Blooms with Stephanie

We're delighted to share a couple of stunning slimline inspiration today from Stephanie Severin. Stephanie has a way of blending vibrant pops of color with artistic textures that really stand out. This time, she's diving into the world of mixed media using some of our favorite colorables to create cards that are pure eye candy.

 

Congrats Floral Slimline

Stephanie shows how lime green can be the ultimate power color for a vertical slimline. She elevated the bright card base by dry-stenciling the Bubbles stencil for a subtle, tonal texture that adds sophisticated depth. For the focal point, she layered a panel from the Mixed Media Mini Slimline card fronts, letting the pre-printed inkblots and splatters do the heavy lifting for that authentic "artist’s desk" look. The bouquet, featuring Color Me Blooms Spring Florals, was "painted" using an acetate ink-smooshing technique with Distress Inks, resulting in soft, ethereal petals that seem to glow against the newsprint. A bold "congrats" sentiment and a scatter of sequins finish this piece with a flourish.

Encouragement Rose Slimline

This second design is an excellent study in modern mixed media composition. Stephanie mirrored the bubbly, stenciled green base from the first card but shifted the focus to a powerful, faith-based sentiment. She anchored a cluster of lush roses onto a dark cardstock band, making the pink and orange "inky" tones pop with intensity. By pairing the gritty, splatter-filled background of the Mixed Media Mini Slimline card front with the delicate transparency of her ink-smooshed roses, Stephanie created a visual balance that is both edgy and encouraging.
