Have you seen all the arty goodness of the current stamp club set, Art Expressions? I couldn't resist using the canvas and easel image to create some mini masterpieces.
Did you see yesterday's Inspiration post where we all created Artist Trading Coins? I've still got the bug. I started off by stamping the easel images onto three ATCoins.
Then I needed a mask.
Deepti's Frames and Flowers set has just the right-sized images. I stamped them in Distress Inks.
Then painted in a background, added a 'floor' and some darker accents to the flowers. I used the white pen for the flower centres, and just left a gap between the flowers and the background, which created a white halo around each flower.
Onto canvas No. 2 using the abstract roses and leaves.
I used a black fineliner pen to add scribbled detail. (Never be afraid to embellish a stamped image with your own scribbles.) I painted a yellow background, keeping the colour darker at the bottom and diluting towards the top.
For my third masterpiece I created an amaryllis.
I wanted this one to be mainly monochrome with all the colour concentrated on the flower and leaves. I kept the canvas background white but painted the ATCoin background darker for contrast.
Then I decided that the backgrounds needed a bit of oomph so out came my trusty grunge stamps. The images were stamped in the same colour as the background, and it's amazing how much depth this technique adds.
ATCoins are a great way to try out new ideas and techniques, because if they go wrong, you've only wasted a small amount of card. Why not have a try?
