Creative Tip of the Day: Mixed Media Layering Made Easy + Process Video

Happy Sunday! After a wonderful post featuring Maria's project this morning, I wanted to share a look at what’s been happening in my art studio this weekend. This Creative Tip of the Day post is all about layering with purpose.

I’ve put together a quick 1-minute process video showing exactly how this 5x7 watercolor piece came together.

🌟 Creative Tip of the Day: Layering With Purpose

The Technique
For a clean, professional look on watercolor paper, always apply your washes first. By stamping your background and sentiment after the paper is dry, you ensure the ink stays crisp and bold, preventing it from bleeding into the colorful textures beneath.

How to Get the Look
  1. Apply your watercolor washes to the 5x7 paper and let them dry completely. 🎨
  2. Use background stamps to add texture to specific zones.
  3. Stamp the Typografia In Faith: Trust In The Lord sentiment in a crisp black ink.
  4. The stamped word art will "pop" perfectly against the watercolor background! ✨

Why We Love It
  • No extra die-cutting or bulk -- perfect for mailing! ✉️
  • Creates a high-end, artistic look with just two stamp sets.
  • The sentiment remains the undisputed star of the piece.
