Coffee & Creativity: A Caffeinated Showcase with Monika Skinner

If you're a fan of cozy cafes and the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans, you’re going to love our featured projects today. STAMPgirl Monika Skinner has been busy in her craft room, and she'll share with us how versatile The Coffee House collage papers can be. From home decor pieces to elegant cards, these papers offer the perfect blend of watercolor illustrations and high-texture patterns to ground any design. ☕✨

Coffee Bean Heart Coaster

Monika’s first project is a charming heart-shaped chipboard coaster that celebrates the simple beauty of roasted coffee beans. She covered the entire heart with the coffee bean pattern from The Coffee House collection, creating a rich, dark background that makes the focal elements pop. By layering a fussy-cut coffee cup and cupcake on top, she added dimension and a touch of sweetness. The project is finished with a small red heart and a coffee-themed sentiment, which was cut from dark cardstock to maintain a cohesive look without overpowering the detailed images. A few coats of Mod Podge provide a glossy, protective finish, making this as functional as it is beautiful.

Warm Coffee Vibes Card

For her second project, Monika focused on the lighter side of the collection, using clean illustrations and a clever masking technique. To give her fussy-cut cup and coffee beans a place to "sit," she used the Ovals Flexi-Template to blend a soft pink saucer directly onto the card base. By layering two different sizes of ovals and graduating the ink intensity, she created a sense of depth and flow. The card is tied together with a few sparkling gems and a sentiment snipped from the Just Caffeinate clear sticker pack, proving that a few well-placed details can make a clean design feel complete. 🎨

A "Brew-tiful" Day Card

The final project in this trio takes the stenciling technique one step further. Using the Ovals Flexi-Template once again, Monika added an extra layer of interest by placing the Senecio 1 stencil over the center of the oval. This added a delicate, intricate pattern to the background, providing a beautiful contrast to the bold, fussy-cut latte images. She finished the card with the It's a Brew-tiful Day phrase die and a scattering of gems for just the right amount of sparkle. It’s a perfect example of how combining basic shapes with detailed stencils can elevate a card from simple to sophisticated.
