Hello Crafty Friends! For today's Spotlight project I have done some watercolouring the lazy way using liquid watercolour for my background and inks for the cactus. I really love this new set of prickly beauties and sentiments called Succulently. I had a little help from the Succulently Coordinating Dies, my all time favourite Mixed Media Grunge and the Stitched Snow Hills.
To start with, I spritzed a piece of sketch paper with diluted Cyan liquid watercolour and allowed it to dry. I used sketch paper because it dries almost flat which makes it easy to attach to a base card.
Using my stamping tool, inked up my cactus using two dye inks, Verveine and Cire, and stamped my image on mixed media card.
Leaving the stamped image and stamp in place, I pulled some of the ink into the image using a damp brush, added more ink and a darker shade of green, Menthe, as needed.
Once dry, I inked my stamp again using the original colours and over stamped my coloured image to give more definition to the outline.
I then added some yellow, Aurore, to the blossoms and die-cut my coloured image.
I cut the spritzed background to size, die-cut my Stitched Snow Hill border, stamped my sentiment in two tones of blue, Mer Du Sud and Ocean, rolling the darker tone, Ocean, around the outside of the sentiment only. I stamped the bar code in Verveine on the blue background and in Cire on the white edged card.
I picked a blue base card and assembled my 4 pieces.
To finish, I added a couple of tiny half pearls.
That's it from me for today. If you fancy getting creative using some liquid watercolours and inky watercolouring or make a project using any of the techniques or ideas shared by my teamies in their Spotlight Posts, make sure to link up your makes with our spotlight project gallery here.
Have a lovely day!
