{Mixed Media Tutorial} Art Journal Covers by Tanja

Hi there, it's Tanja here for you today with another step-by-step tutorial. Do you remember all those Art Journal Pages I created? I made some covers for them:

  • cut two panels from very sturdy watercolor paper (425 g/qm), cover them with jeans fabric and punch two holes at the left side of each of them
  • cut two pieces of patterned paper to fit the inside of the covers and ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Faded Jeans)
  • repunch the holes
  • run the two covers through your due cutting machine to really press all the layers together

  • apply heavy gesso through the Leaf Bliss large stencil and also cover the edges
  •  cover the piece with Clear Sparkle embossing powder and heat set it
  • add some stamping with the script from Mixed Media Elements and white pigment ink
  • sprinkle some light blue, gold and white embossing enamel onto some parts of the cover and heat set this as well
  • add some streaks of Distress Paint (Spun Sugar)
  • for the front cover apply some heavy gesso through the Flutters and Splatters and Fearless large stencils
  • cover the piece with Clear Sparkle embossing powder and heat set it
  • sprinkle some light blue, gold and white embossing enamel onto some parts of the cover and heat set this as well

  • add some streaks of Distress Paint (Spun Sugar)
  • use your hot glue gun to adhere three wood veneer shapes painted with Distress Paint (Picked Raspberry) and Wink of Stella Clear Glitter fro extra sparkle and shine

I hope you got inspired.

Yours,
