{CUTplorations Creative Cuts} Creative Ways to Color Die Cuts

Happy Friday, STAMPlorations friends! CUTplorations Creative Cuts puts the spotlight on the thin metal dies we carry in the store. We have Karen Hasheck returning as guest designer and sharing projects that feature CUTplorations dies. Make sure you comment on this post for a chance at a $15 prize code. Every month, we draw 7 winners, with the winners randomly drawn from all posts published during the month. The more posts you comment on, the more chances you have.

Happy Fri-die everyone! My name is Karen Hasheck and I am once again honored to be the CUTplorations Creative Cuts guest designer this month! One of my favorite things to do when I design cards is to find unique ways to "color" my die cuts. This month I am playing with stencils and foils, and I seriously love how this card turned out:

I started this card front by applying Deco Foil's Transfer Gel Duo through the new Twisties slimline stencil and when it was dry (clear but still tacky), I laid a piece of Deco Foil Shattered Rainbow Foil on it and ran it through my MINC. I die cut the Grateful word die out of the colorful Twisties background, raised it on black fun foam and pit it back for the eclipse look. "Seriously" was die cut out of another colorful foiled stenciled piece and both the stenciled and the black card fronts were die cut with Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle dies.

After I created the foiled stenciled background on the first card, there is leftover foil that is way too beautiful to throw away and it can be used by running it through the MINC machine again with a Deco Foil Toner Sheet. I die cut Dragonfly Cover Plate out of that second generation foiled sheet and also cut the Thinking of You sentiment on the inside of the card from another part of that sheet:

This card started with a Brutus Monroe Deco Foil Designer Toner Sheet with foiled dots of different sizes. I stenciled brown ink through the new Slides slimline stencil and die cut a grid pattern with the Wonky Stitched Grid Texture Plate. Then I die cut "congrats" out, added black ink and inlaid it back in. Once again I used my favorite Crazy Double Running Stitched Rectangles die to cut out the frame.

I had great fun "coloring" my CUTplorations die cuts with stencils and foils and hope my cards inspire you to give some of these ideas and products a try! I would like to thank Shery and the whole STAMPlorations family for allowing me to be a guest designer here for the last several months!

  1. Thanks for the inspiration of coloring my died pieces. I don't think to do that on word dies and it looks so great.
