{Mixed Media Tutorial} Tin Can Art with Marilynn

Hi there, this is MariLynn with a fun way to repurpose an object that most people would consider trash or at best something just to be recycled. I think it is fun to take those objects to make art.

I am going to show you how I turned this small can

Into this cute little container for holding my hair clips, (And when you have long hair, you have a lot of hair clips to keep track of)

I started by washing the empty can. I used a pair of pliers to push down the edges just to make sure there weren't any sharp edges left from the can opener. Then I painted the can black.
I  used paint that is for use on metal. (Colorique)

Now a black can wouldn't be that interesting to look at would it?
Because the surface of the can was round,
I held the stencil in place with my non dominant hand.
I used this stencil:

I used a dark teal colored paint with a medium sized paint brush
Doesn't that look better than just black?
But I wanted to have more...

I took the end of a bamboo skewer and dipped it in white paint
to make dots on the stenciled parts

But it still felt like it needed something...
So I added dots in colors of the rainbow.

I hope that you are inspired to make art.
